The Work Explained
The blazer convalesces around a central estuary motif, a visual metaphor for union. First created for Jordan’s wedding, the original Estuary design is here revisited for Group Show 2 with new materials and refined construction, reimagined through the techniques and design codes that now define Jordan’s practice.

About Jordan Arthur Smith
Jordan Arthur Smith is a designer focused on complex construction techniques to create “post-human design”. Jordan works with natural fabrics and dyes to create pieces that evolve with the wearer over time. His practice emphasizes garments that shift and change, leaving age markings unique to each wearer and deepening the bond between body and object.

The Process
Jordan’s wife hand-drew the curved Estuary patterns, infusing the blazer with personal sentiment. Jordan then cut and sewed the piece in his studio, along with the silk liner, structured gloves, and accompanying sculpture. He was meticulous in material selection, ensuring every element began undyed and was shaped entirely in-house.

"The designer’s use of transparent lamb hide for the estuary motif is imperative to the overall visual impact of this piece. The garment can be illuminated from within, physically highlighting this design work on the piece."
