The Work Explained
The Chopstick Bag v2 is a clutch-style sling bag, featuring a broad front flap that showcases the leather scarring in splendid fashion. Crafted from split culatta for reduced weight, the bag is finished with silver hardware: a hand-forged iron handle, four metal chopsticks bound with kangaroo cord, and an interior plaque bearing the Greco mark.
The Chopstick Bag v1 was the first leather bag Ben created three years ago. This new iteration refines its predecessor through improved materials and construction—aptly reflecting Greco’s own growth, where craftsmanship and materiality have been where Ben has advanced most.

About greco
Designer Benjamin Greco began sewing in January 2022. From his Brooklyn studio, he has since developed a distinctive design language, marked by dramatic flair and intricate ornamentation. Furthermore, irregular material selection has become a Greco hallmark, with works featuring everything from stingray leather to ostrich claws.
The Process
The piece was conceived as a sculptural object as much as a functional accessory. Ben has always enjoyed culatta horse leather, so he crafted the front panel to be deliberately minimal, underscoring the leather’s natural texture and scarring. The piece is both a refinement of Greco’s earliest bag design and a testament to his growth as a maker.
